About the entity
The Minister for Housing and Building is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced Victorians to be appointed to the Building Appeals Board (BAB). The BAB is a specialist expert tribunal that makes decisions about matters relating to the Building Act 1993 (Act) and the Building Regulations 2018, which includes the Building Code of Australia. Those decisions may only be set aside by the Supreme Court in a judicial review proceeding.
About the roles
The members of the BAB will draw on their skills and professional expertise to inform panel decision making and support the BAB in administering its jurisdiction set out under Part 10 of the Act. Bringing experience in the law, building, building surveying, civil/structural engineering, fire safety engineering, quantity surveying, town planning, architecture or consumer representation as well as a strong working knowledge of issues relevant to the Victorian building industry, the appointees will contribute effectively as a team.
