About the organisation
From humble beginnings, Better Place Australia (BPA) has been helping people take back control of their lives for over 30 years, providing high-quality and effective services for a wide range of people in the community. In response to changing needs, BPA now offers a broad and responsive range of support services across 14 locations in Victoria, from mental health counselling, elder abuse support and prevention and parenting plans, to financial and relationship counselling and more. With the aim to lead the sector in creating impactful, evidence-based and accessible services for Australians of all ages, BPA established The Centre for Better Relationships, which undertakes insightful research, knowledge translation, advocacy work and policy analysis on key health and relationship issues.
About the role
Reporting to, and working collaboratively with, the BPA Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure BPA’s continued growth and impact. This includes building out, and executing on, the organisation’s 2024 – 2029 strategic plan and sector-leading growth aspirations. With both an outward and an inward focus, the CEO will: enhance the operational effectiveness of the organisation; act as BPA’s public face, enriching its reputation; nurture community, funder, donor and partner relationships; and anticipate and respond to future challenges and opportunities. The appointee will protect BPA’s ongoing and long-term sustainability through sound financial stewardship, budgeting and reporting, the identification of new income sources, and by maintaining robust governance and clinical frameworks. Critical to success will be reinforcing BPA’s values-based culture, fostering innovation, accountability and collaboration across the organisation, and mentoring and coaching senior leadership teams.
