About the role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior leadership role reporting to the Director with responsibility for overseeing key professional services, including communications, philanthropy, business development, grants, governance and compliance, facilities, bioservices, and information technology. As a member of the executive, the COO works closely with the Director, Deputy Directors, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief People Officer to shape and deliver the Institute's strategy, drive operational excellence, and ensure governance and compliance standards are met. This role is pivotal in modernising business functions, fostering a collaborative and values-driven culture, and mentoring department heads to strengthen leadership and management capabilities.
About you
Your extensive multi-disciplinary experience in executive enterprise operational leadership is ideally complemented by a background in medical research or science. Your extensive leadership spans various corporate functions, and you bring exceptional strategic insight, management expertise, and relationship-building skills. Known for your governance and stakeholder management capabilities, you possess the gravitas to engage effectively with the Board, represent the Institute, and build meaningful relationships with donors, government, and funding agencies. A collaborative and inspiring leader, you foster a culture of respect and development while driving innovative and results-oriented outcomes. Politically astute and adaptable, you navigate organisational complexities with vision and impact.
