About the organisation
VicGrid is an administrative office established in relation to the Victorian Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action (DEECA). At the forefront of Victoria’s energy transition, VicGrid will play a critical role in connecting renewable energy projects, including offshore wind farms and Renewable Energy Zones, to the state’s electricity grid. Collaborating with stakeholders such as the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), government agencies, and industry partners, VicGrid will ensure that infrastructure projects align with state and national energy objectives. By modernising the transmission network and integrating sustainable energy sources, VicGrid will deliver solutions that enhance Victoria’s energy security, reliability, and sustainability. VicGrid’s work is critical in shaping a clean energy future for Victoria, supporting its economic growth, and ensuring a resilient and reliable energy supply for all Victorians.
About the role
The Director, Engineering is responsible for ensuring Victoria’s energy infrastructure is designed, built and operated in the most effective way. This includes providing expert technical direction and advice to support the organisation on a broad range of engineering matters. The Director will be responsible for ensuring VicGrid’s requirements and standards are embedded in the way assets are delivered and managed and will work closely with industry to embed an engineering process that is robust and efficient. Playing a key leadership role within VicGrid, the Director, Engineering leads a team of highly skilled and diverse technical professionals across all engineering disciplines and domains, with the team working to establish a systemic approach to ensure reliable engineering advice and support for the organisation. The Director, Engineering will be expected to drive thought leadership and stimulate innovation across industry.
About you
Tertiary qualified in Engineering, you have extensive experience in directing and providing engineering advice. Your knowledge and experience will reflect your technical and operational excellence across the energy asset lifecycle. Strong experience in the strategic planning and design of energy networks as well as the development, design and construction of complex infrastructure projects will be some of the key capabilities you have to offer. A Victorian Professional Engineering Registration or credentials that allow for a successful application of the REPV are required.
Preferred candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening, including a Declaration and Consent form and a National Police Check.
