The University of Melbourne (UoM) is a leading international university with a tradition of excellence in teaching and research. The main campus in Parkville is recognised as the hub of Australia’s premier bio-medical and knowledge precinct comprising eight hospitals, many leading research institutes and a wide-range of knowledge-based industries.
UoM’s Corporate Development (CD) team is responsible for the implementation of the University’s Estate Master Plan (EMP), Sustainability Plan and other CD strategic plans and programs. Implementation of these long-term transformative plans involves the planning and delivery of large complex programs and projects over the next decade. The University’s new EMP provides a blueprint for the future development of its Parkville campus and precincts. It seeks to create inclusive, connected and enriching environments that respect the traditional lands on which its campuses stand and recognise the University's strong connection to place.
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), CD, with a dotted line to the ED, Communications & Marketing, and ED, Policy & Government Relations, the Director, Stakeholder Relations & Engagement will lead a team to create and execute stakeholder relations and engagement strategies to boost awareness and advocacy for the EMP and other CD programs and initiatives. Driving successful stakeholder outcomes, the appointee will provide trusted advice to the CD leadership team and other leaders, and develop and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government, industry and community. The role will, in partnership with relevant internal functions, develop communications and engagement strategies utilising traditional and digital platforms to enhance the reputation of CD programs, identify thought leadership, engage with key audiences and support the growing pipeline of CD opportunities.
About you
You are a proven stakeholder and engagement executive with extensive experience overseeing stakeholder relations, communications and engagement functions, within large complex organisations in the property, infrastructure and related government sectors. With a proven ability to provide senior executive advice, influence outcomes, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, you possess strong strategic thinking, analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions. Your ability to drive successful stakeholder outcomes is underpinned by your exceptional people leadership and team building skills, existing government networks and ability to build relationships within government, industry and community. Your expertise in developing, stakeholder, communications and engagement strategies that build awareness and advocacy will see you succeed in this exciting and impactful opportunity.
